SOURCE & BUILD
Tell us the car and the spec. We find it in Japan, then build it before it ships.
HOW A SPECIAL ORDER WORKS
- Tell us what you want. Model, year, budget, and how you plan to use the car. If you are not sure which variant suits you, we will talk it through.
- We go looking. Most cars come out of the Japanese auction houses, which run weekly. Others come from dealers we deal with regularly, or from private sellers. We read the paperwork, translate the grading, and send you what is worth considering.
- We agree the price before we commit. At auction you set a maximum and we never exceed it. From a dealer or a private seller there is no clock, so we negotiate and bring you the number first.
- We inspect and prepare. Once the car is ours, it goes to our partner shop. This is the point where work can be done before export.
- Shipping and customs. The car sails to Baltimore, clears US customs, and is released to us.
- Delivery. We handle title and registration paperwork, then deliver or arrange collection.
Expect roughly three to five months from the day we buy your car to the day it is delivered, depending on sailing schedules.
Buying a car we already have is shorter than this. The ones in Japan pick up at step 4; the ones in the USA are here, titled, and ready to drive — see what is in stock.
WHERE THE WORK HAPPENS
🇯🇵 IN JAPAN — BEFORE EXPORT
Same menu of work. Different timing and cost.
- Parts sourced locally, often at Japanese prices
- Fitted by shops that specialise in the platform
- Arrives finished — no waiting after it lands
- Done while the car is already waiting to ship
Best when: you know what you want and the car has not shipped yet.
🇺🇸 IN THE USA — AFTER ARRIVAL
Same menu of work. Different timing and cost.
- Decide after you have seen and driven the car
- Change your mind, or add to it later
- Easier warranty and support on US-bought parts
- Available on cars already landed and ready now
Best when: you want the car first and the build second.
Not sure what a car needs? Tell us how you will use it and we will suggest a sensible list.
